Poem for my Father

The Arrow of Death

The arrow that is death points
At my fathers heart
I am undone, bereft in the
the void of my soul

Time unravels the life strands
no gentleness left
Ripped from the weft
We embrace the Morrighan
Angel of death.

Foul breath creature of the night – Hunting moments in our dreams

A javelin pierces the tissue of my screams
Death has no respect here
Dancing us like broken dolls
Strings jerk blood through
Heaving veins and tears.

Embrace the dark Kali
With her necklace of skulls
Accept the sword of death
and rebirth

Creature of the night dance me – Hunting moments in my dreams

Threads of my father’s life
Float in the universe
Small broken bits of himself
Catch in my hair and breath
on their journey to home

In Ceridwyn’s cauldron
Death is a melting pot
Crucible of change
To nothing.

Goddess of the night carry me – Into the hunted moments of my dreams

Sword of death and rebirth
Embracing Hecate, crone,
Goddess of death
Laughter cackles through infinity

Carrying us through the night
into our dreams
and beyond
Beyond.

Night creature cradles my dreams – Beyond forever.

I live and work in a beautiful place with a river and beach and the wild west coast. Having grown up without a TV, as a family we read a lot. This lead to me writing a lot which in turn lead to a habit of writing poetry to make sense of my world. My grandmother painted. Lovely oils and water colours which she encouraged me to try. For many years I did very little, life was not conducive to creativity until came a time when life turned on its head and suddenly I found expression in creativity with the Intentional Creativity method taught by Shiloh Sophia McCloud in her Color of Women training. So here I am, writer, artist, ritual maker showing my offerings to the world.
